Referral and Authorization Coordinator

Anchor Co-Living is seeking an Intake & Prior Authorization Specialist to help convert incoming healthcare referrals into approved placements. This role combines relationship-building, intake coordination, eligibility verification, prior authorizations, and follow-up to ensure individuals gain timely access to housing and care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound referrals from hospitals, care coordinators, behavioral health teams, community partners, and individuals seeking services.
  • Build strong relationships with referral partners and provide responsive follow-through.
  • Collect and document complete intake information.
  • Verify Medi-Cal eligibility and managed care plan enrollment.
  • Submit and track authorization requests through payer portals and internal systems.
  • Monitor approvals, denials, and pending requests; resolve documentation issues and resubmit as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in the EHR and manage multiple referrals simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare intake, prior authorization, or medical billing.
  • Experience submitting authorizations to U.S. health plans.
  • Familiarity with payer portals, EHR documentation, ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent professional English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work full-time during Pacific Time business hours.

Preferred

  • Spanish fluency.
  • Knowledge of California Medi-Cal and/or CalAIM Community Supports.
  • Experience with denials, appeals, behavioral health, substance use, or housing-related services.

Pay: $10-$13 USD/hour
